Top 3 Trucking Issues
Almost every day I read negative comments online posted by OTR drivers. ELD’s, parking and home time are reoccurring themes. In a recent trucking industry publication there were three articles addressing the parking issues alone. There is no need to sit around and hope that someone decides to make changes to government regulations or truck stops add more parking spots. Instead of getting out of the industry all together, as some have, take the opportunity to look at a viable option…the local driving job.
I think there are a lot of misconceptions out there that drivers leave money on the table when they switch to local. But, in most cases, that’s just not true. For example, we have several local positions that pay between $70,000 and $80,000/year. In addition, our drivers receive a uniform, paid vacation and holidays, 401(k), full benefits, paid short and long term disability and more. Most importantly, they gain time. Time at home. Time not worrying where to park at night or waiting at shippers and stressing.
So, put these top three trucking issues behind you and drive local. Wouldn’t it be nice to finish your shift where you began, be home daily and stop worrying about ELDs, because driving for a reputable company means they won’t run you over your 14 hours..
